Which waves will reach your Island first? The larger or smaller waves?

The smaller waves would hit my Island first. The reason is that they move faster & they don't get to far of the ocean surface like the larger waves would. This way the waves would move with the currents of the ocean.

Which waves will begin slowing down farther form shore when thy reach your Island? Explain your Reasoning.

The larger waves would begin to slow down faster because once they reach or touch the bottom of the ocean floor they begin to slow down, tilt, then fall over. So in this case the larger waves would slow down faster.
